10 Reasons Why Football Mums Are Ditching Plasters for This Podiatrist-Designed Blister Protection Sleeve
Summary: Why taping, grip socks, and clipping off dead skin never fix the problem — and how this simple sleeve keeps your teen sprinting pain-free for the full 90 minutes.
You know the walk back to the car. They say they're fine, but their weight's on the outside of one foot. The sock comes off slowly — raw skin on the big toe, another patch on the ball of their foot.
1. It doesn't start on matchday. It starts at training.
Nobody gets a blister from one game. Every sprint, stop and change of direction drags the inside of their cleat across the same patch of skin, session after session. By Sunday the damage is already days old. The cleat isn't just pressing on their foot. It's dragging.
2. Why plasters, grip socks and new boots never fixed it
Plasters go on after the skin is already damaged. Grip socks stop the foot from sliding inside the sock, not the cleat dragging on their skin. New cleats drag over exactly the same patch. None of them put a physical barrier between the cleat and the skin, which is where the blister forms.
3. So we gave the cleat something else to rub
Stride Sleeve has two surfaces. The inner one stays locked to their skin and moves how their foot moves. The outer one lets their sock and cleat slide across it. The rubbing still happens — it just happens on the sleeve instead of on the skin, right over the big toe and the ball of the foot.

“Charlie's 15 and I'd stopped noticing the limp because it had just become normal. Three weeks in, it's gone. Finally I don't have to stare at him limping to the car after every match.”

4. Developed with a foot specialist
Stride Sleeve was developed with Dr. Anya Sharma, a practising podiatrist who has spent over a decade in race medical tents — where you see every way a shoe can wreck a foot in one afternoon. The design covers the two places a tight cleat does the most dragging: the big toe and the ball of the foot.
5. It lets the sweat out instead of sealing it in
Damp skin blisters far faster than dry skin, and a cleat is a hot, closed box for ninety minutes. Stride Sleeve is ventilated rather than sealed, so the sweat has somewhere to go and the protection keeps working.
6. It works the first time your child puts it on
Nothing to break in, nothing to learn, no routine to keep up. It goes on in seconds before the socks and it's working from the first sprint.

7. One in the gear bag, one in the wash, one spare
Your kid trains twice a week and plays at the weekend, so a single pair spends half the season drying. Most parents take the 3-pack — there's a fresh one ready for every session and it covers tournament weekends.
8. Playing with full confidence for the full ninety
Protected feet mean your teen is still going for everything at minute 85 — not shortening their stride, not pulling out of a 50/50 challenge they'd normally win. It holds through ninety minutes of sprinting and planting, invisible under their sock, and thin enough that their cleats fit perfectly without altering ball touch.
9. 10,000+ parents have already sorted this
Their kids now train and play blister-free, week after week. Gear bags up and down the country have one in them — tournament weekends, new cleats, back-to-back fixtures. Join them.

“He got a header on Sunday and I actually got to enjoy it. No wincing at the restaurant afterwards. I got quite emotional when he thanked me.”

Try Stride Sleeve risk-free for 30 days. Wear it, play in it, put it through a full weekend of games. If it doesn't do what we say it does, we'll refund every penny — no questions asked. Nothing to lose, except the blisters.

Has anyone actually tried these? My son's 13 and comes home with the same raw patch on his big toe every single week. I'm sceptical but I'm running out of ideas.
3👍
Kerry, yes. Mine's 14 and it was the same story, plasters every Sunday night. Three weeks in and there's been nothing. They're not magic, they just stop the boot rubbing the same spot. That was the whole problem for us.
6👍❤️
Second this. Bought them in August for my lad, no blisters since. Only thing I'd say is get two pairs, one is never enough with three sessions a week.
2👍
Sizing question — he's a size 5 boot but his feet are growing constantly. Do I size up? Last thing I want is to buy them and have them useless in two months.
4👍
I went by his current shoe size and it was fine. They stretch a fair bit so there's some room to grow into them. My son went from a 5 to a 6 over the summer and they still fit.
3👍
Same here, and I'd say if you're between sizes go larger. They grip fine even with a bit of slack.
1👍
My worry is he just won't wear them. He's 15 and wouldn't be seen dead in anything that looks like a medical thing. Has anyone had that?
5👍
Tracey, they're under the sock so nobody sees them. Mine forgets he's got them on half the time, I find them still on his feet when he comes in for dinner.
7👍❤️
Mine was the same and now he asks me where they are if he can't find them. Took about two sessions.
2👍
Tournament weekend, five games over two days on 3G. Usually that's a guaranteed disaster for his feet. Took his boots off Sunday night, nothing there at all. That's the first time that's happened.
9👍❤️
Are they tight? He's got quite a wide foot and anything snug leaves marks on him. Don't want to make things worse.
2👍
My son has wide feet too. They're stretchy rather than compressive, more like a sock band than a brace. No marks on him at all and he's had them on for full matches.
4👍
I've already wasted about £40 on grip socks that did absolutely nothing. Why would this be any different?
6👍
Sharon, I had three pairs of grip socks sitting in a drawer too. Turns out they stop the foot sliding inside the sock, which isn't the same as the boot rubbing the skin. Nobody explained that to me until I read about it. Completely different problem.
8👍❤️
Right but is this actually any different from the £8 ones on Amazon? I've bought a few of those over the years and every one either fell apart or was so bulky his boot wouldn't do up.
5👍
Amanda, I had exactly the same thought. The cheap ones I tried were basically gel pads and far too thick for a boot. This one is thin enough that his boots fit the same as before. Four months and the stitching hasn't gone.
11👍❤️
Agree with this. Bulk was the issue with everything else we tried. Football boots have no spare room in them at all.
3👍
Is 11 too young for these? My youngest has just started playing properly and is already getting sore feet.
1👍
Mine's 11 and uses them, no problem. He's a size 3 and took the small.
2👍
Practical question, how do you wash them? Kit goes in on a Sunday night in this house and I'm not doing a separate wash.
3👍
Straight in with the kit, cool wash. I air dry them on the rack rather than the radiator. Been doing that since September and they're fine.
4👍
Does anyone use these for a girl? My daughter is 14 and plays at county level, her feet are in a state most weeks.
2👍
My daughter's 15 and wears them. It's just a foot, same problem either way.
5👍
Mine's 16 and plays Saturday and Sunday plus two trainings. He used to come off around 70 minutes most weeks and I always assumed it was fitness. It wasn't. He's played the full ninety every game since half term.
12👍❤️🥰
Silly question but do you need one on each foot or does the pack come with two?
1👍
You get both, it's a pair. He wears one on each.
2👍
Coming back to this because I was quite rude about it a few weeks ago. I genuinely thought it was another gimmick. My son's been wearing them since the start of October and I haven't opened the plaster box once. I was wrong.
14👍❤️
Best thing we did was get them at the same time as his new boots. The first month of new boots was always horrendous, this time there was nothing.
6👍
What also helped us was switching him to proper football socks instead of the cheap multipack ones. Doing both at once is what sorted it in the end, but the sleeve was the bigger part of it.
3👍🥰
He moved up to a bigger club in September and went from one session a week to three. His feet could not cope with the jump. I assumed he'd toughen up and apparently that's just not how skin works. Wish I'd known sooner.
7👍
Physio at my son's club actually mentioned these before I'd heard of them. Said the forefoot is where nearly all of it happens in football because of the push-off and the cutting. Made sense once he explained it.
9👍
Does it stay put or does it shift around during a game? He'd never stop to fix something mid match.
2👍
Hasn't moved once for mine. He's played about fifteen games in them now.
3👍
How long is delivery? He's got a tournament in two weeks and I'd rather have them before.
1👍
Mine came in three days.
2👍
Ordered a second pack today. Between the two boys and the amount they play, one pair each was never going to be enough. Worth it just to stop the Sunday night plaster routine.
